1. Carton packaging design should based on the nature of goods. According to the heat resistance, moisture resistance, fragile, flammable, erosion, mildew, insects, etc.to carry out the structural design of the box. The designer should know the weight of goods as well as the location of the maximum weight, in order to determine the size of the box, the lid and the bottom of the box.Therefore, the designer should be based on the characteristics of the goods, select the most appropriate box template structure.

2.Design based on the different forms of the commodity. The goods can be divided into two basic shape of liquid and solid. The solid form can be divided into shaping, granules, powder three kinds. The shape of the liquid box is mostly long cube while the solid goods box shapes have more styles. Although the solid form of commodities varied, but mostly with the shape of the product itself to determine the box shape, only reasonablely arrangement to reduce the packaging volume to cut down packaging costs.

3. Design based on different use of commodities. The goods have different sales objects, different markets for different purposes, different consumers because of their age, sex, occupation, and the shape of the box are not the same.In addition, consumers to purchase goods for different purposes, the required box is not the same appearance.Thus the shapes of carton packaging are different depending on the commodity uses.

4. Design based on different conditions of transportation. Transport conditions are mainly divided into long distance, short distance, water, land and air transport, especially the modern transportation developed rapidly, container transport has become an important tool to carry. Therefore, the specifications of the box, the style must be adapted to container requirements, make the box shape is more normalized, standardized, but also consider the arrangement of the small package in a large package to make full use of the large packing volume of space.

5. Design based on the carton shape requirements. Carton shape structure design, which is not only a design method, but also a design techniques, it requires in-depth study, in order to create a varied, beautiful and applicable box template. However, although it is ever-changing, and have to follow certain principles such as protective, convenience, variability to make the carton packaging design more scientific and reasonable.
